Treatments

Gum care, from the exam to surgery

Most people start with an evaluation. What comes next depends on what Dr. Montes finds.

  • Gum evaluation

Measurements around every tooth, X-rays as needed and a written plan.

    Gum evaluation
  • Deep cleaning

A cleaning below the gumline, a section of the mouth at a time, with numbing.

  • Laser or traditional surgery

For pockets a cleaning can't reach. We explain both ways before you choose.

    Gum surgery
  • Gum grafting

Rebuilding gum where it has pulled back from the teeth.

What stays with your own dentist

Dr. Montes practices periodontics only, after a residency in periodontics.

  • Fillings and crowns

Your dentist repairs and restores teeth. We treat the gums around them.

  • Routine cleanings

Between our visits you go back to your dentist or hygienist, unless Dr. Montes asks to see you more often.

  • Braces and aligners

We can check your gums before and during orthodontic treatment, and send a note to your orthodontist.

Practice limited to periodontics

Dr. Rita Montes, DDS, completed a residency in a periodontics program and is licensed in California.
