How fees work

Gum treatment is billed in stages, so the fee is too. Here is how paying works, in the order most patients ask.

  • Insurance we work with

We file claims for PPO dental plans and bill you for the part your plan doesn't pay. We don't work with dental HMO (DHMO) plans. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP. Original Medicare does not cover routine dental care.

    • PPO dental plans: we file the claim

    • DHMO plans: not accepted

    • Medicaid and CHIP: not enrolled

    • Medicare: ask us what applies

  • If you pay yourself

If you don't have a dental plan, you pay the fee in your written estimate. Gum treatment is done in stages, so you can pay stage by stage. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

    • Pay at each stage

    • Each stage's fee, in writing

    • Third-party financing, set by the lender

  • Receipts for reimbursement

If your plan reimburses you instead of paying us, we give you an itemized statement with the procedure codes after each visit. Whether the plan pays, and how much, is the plan's decision.

    • Itemized, every visit

    • Procedure codes included

  • An estimate in advance

You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask. It names each procedure, whether it's done with a laser or traditional instruments, and the fee.

    • Written, before treatment

    • Each procedure and its fee

    • Take it home before you decide

  • Checking your benefits

Before your first visit, Humberto can ask your plan what it pays toward gum treatment and tell you what he learned. A plan's answer is an estimate, not a promise to pay, and we say so when we pass it on.

    • We call your plan for you

    • You hear what we learned

  • What the first visit includes

The first visit is an exam with measurements, X-rays if they're needed and a talk about your options. Bring your plan card, a photo ID and the name of the dentist who sent you. Forms are on our patient portal, not on this website.

    • Plan card and photo ID

    • Your dentist's name

Questions about a fee?

Ask before you come. Humberto can tell you what a stage of treatment usually involves and how we bill it.
