Questions we hear

If yours isn't here, call or send a request and we'll answer it.

Do you take my insurance?

We file claims for PPO dental plans. We don't work with DHMO plans. How fees work lists each kind of plan, and Humberto can check your benefits before your first visit.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee in your written estimate, which we give you before treatment.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

We are not enrolled with them. Your own dentist can tell you which offices nearby are.

Will it hurt?

We numb the area before gum treatment and check that it is numb before we begin. You'll feel pressure and movement, and you can raise a hand to stop. How sore you are afterward varies, and Dr. Montes tells you what to expect.

Do I need a referral?

No. Many patients are sent by their dentist or hygienist. Some plans ask for a referral, so check with yours.

How often do I need X-rays and gum measurements?

Dr. Montes decides from your history and what she finds. Measurements are part of every exam. X-rays are taken when she needs them, and we can ask your dentist for recent ones.

What is a deep cleaning?

A deep cleaning cleans the roots below the gumline, one section of the mouth at a time, with numbing. It usually takes two to four visits.

Is the laser better than traditional surgery?

Studies don't show that either is better for every patient. Dr. Montes explains which she would choose for your gums and why, and the choice is yours.

Do you offer sedation?

No. We use local anesthetic only. If you need sedation for gum treatment, we can refer you to a dentist who gives it.

What counts as an emergency?

For trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads or bleeding that won't stop, call 911 or go to an emergency room. For pain or a problem after treatment, call us and we'll tell you the soonest we can see you.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. It names each procedure, whether it's done with a laser or traditional instruments, and the fee. Ask when you schedule or at any visit.

Do you speak Spanish?

Humberto speaks Spanish and English at the front desk.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call or text us. We ask for a business day's notice when you can, so we can offer the time to someone else.
